Eloquent Engine (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Eloquent Engine platform at eloquentengine.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over your data.

By creating an account or using our services, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a one-way cryptographic hash — we cannot read your password). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier from Google.

1.2 Business Information

When you create a project, you provide information about your business: company name, website domain, industry, primary services, target customers, marketing goals, and optionally your competitors’ website domains. This information is used exclusively to generate your content strategy and brand research.

1.3 Content and Strategy Data

We store the content strategies, content pieces, and generated articles produced on your behalf through our platform. This includes target keywords, topic briefs, author personas, and AI-generated article content.

1.4 Third-Party Credentials You Connect

If you connect Google Search Console, you authorize us to access your search performance data. If you connect Ahrefs, you provide an API key. If you connect WordPress, you provide your site URL, username, and an application password. These credentials are stored securely and used only to provide the connected features you have requested. You can disconnect any integration at any time from your project settings.

1.5 Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, card verification code, or bank account details. We receive from Stripe your subscription status, plan tier, and billing cycle dates. Stripe’s privacy practices are governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy.

1.6 Usage and Technical Data

We log IP addresses for security and abuse prevention purposes, including rate limiting signups and login attempts. We do not use IP addresses for advertising or behavioral tracking.

1.7 Email Activity

We send transactional emails (account verification, trial reminders, billing notifications) via SendGrid. We do not send marketing emails beyond transactional communications directly related to your account.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and improve our services — generating content strategies, brand research, and AI-written articles tailored to your business
• Authenticate your account — verifying your identity and maintaining session security
• Process payments — managing your subscription and billing through Stripe
• Send account communications — email verification, trial expiry notices, billing confirmations, and support responses
• Prevent abuse — limiting trial accounts to one per company domain, rate limiting signup and login attempts by IP address
• Analyze and improve the platform — understanding aggregate usage patterns to improve content quality and product features

We do not use your business information, content, or generated articles to train AI models or share your data with any third party for marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

To provide our services, we share data with the following third parties:

Each third party is contractually bound to use data only to provide services to us and is prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored on servers operated by Render in the United States. We use industry-standard security practices including:

• Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit
• Password hashing using bcrypt — passwords are never stored in readable form
• WordPress application passwords stored using Fernet symmetric encryption
• JWT tokens with short expiry for session management
• Rate limiting on authentication endpoints to prevent credential stuffing

No security system is impenetrable. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information and content data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription, your account and data remain accessible until you request deletion. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing teams@eloquentengine.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

Stripe retains billing records independently of our deletion requests, as required by financial regulations.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

All users:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Export your data in a portable format

European Economic Area (EEA) and UK residents — under GDPR, you additionally have the right to:

• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

California residents — under CCPA, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Opt out of sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
• Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

7. Cookies

We use session cookies to maintain your authenticated state while you are logged in. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. Our cookies are strictly necessary for the platform to function and are deleted when you log out or your session expires.

8. Children’s Privacy

Our services are intended for business use and are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. 9. International Data Transfers

Our servers are located in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States. By using our services, you consent to this transfer.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of our services after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
